The Remnant and Its Mission
The universal church is composed of all who truly believe in Christ, but in the
last days, a time of widespread apostasy, a remnant has been called out to keep
the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. This remnant announces the
arrival of the judgment hour, proclaims salvation through Christ, and heralds
the approach of His second advent. This proclamation is symbolized by the three
angels of Revelation 14; it coincides with the work of judgment in heaven and
results in a work of repentance and reform on earth. Every believer is called to
have a personal part in this worldwide witness.
Revelation 12:17; 14:6-12; 18:1-4
(12)
17
Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and went off to make war on the
rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and bear
testimony to Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.

6
Then I saw another angel flying in midheaven, with an eternal gospel to
proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and tongue
and people; 7 and he said
with a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, for the hour of his
judgment has come; and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and
the fountains of water." 8
Another angel, a second, followed, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the
great, she who made all nations drink the wine of her impure passion."
9 And another angel, a third,
followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If any one worships the beast
and its image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand,
10 he also shall drink the wine
of God's wrath, poured unmixed into the cup of his anger, and he shall be
tormented with fire and sulphur in the presence of the holy angels and in
the presence of the Lamb. 11
And the smoke of their torment goes up for ever and ever; and they have no
rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and
whoever receives the mark of its name." 12
Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the
commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great
authority; and the earth was made bright with his splendor.
2 And he called out with a
mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! It has become a
dwelling place of demons, a haunt of every foul spirit, a haunt of every
foul and hateful bird; 3 for
all nations have drunk the wine of her impure passion, and the kings of
the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the
earth have grown rich with the wealth of her wantonness."
4 Then I heard another voice
from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her
sins, lest you share in her plagues;
2 Corinthians 5:10
10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each
one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body.
Jude 3, 14
3
Beloved, being very eager to write to you of our common salvation, I found
it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith which was
once for all delivered to the saints.
14
It was of these also that Enoch in the seventh generation from Adam
prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord came with his holy myriads

16
since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy." 17 And
if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to
his deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile.
18 You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways
inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or
gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a
lamb without blemish or spot.
2 Peter 3:10-14
10
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will
pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire,
and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up. 11
Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of persons
ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting
for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the
heavens will be kindled and dissolved, and the elements will melt with
fire! 13 But according to his promise we wait for new heavens
and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore,
beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without
spot or blemish, and at peace.
Revelation 21:1-14
1
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the
first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
2 And I saw the holy city, new
Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned
for her husband; 3 and I
heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling of God is
with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God
himself will be with them; 4
he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more,
neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the
former things have passed away." 5
And he who sat upon the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." Also
he said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true."
6 And he said to me, "It is
done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the
thirsty I will give from the fountain of the water of life without
payment. 7 He who conquers
shall have this heritage, and I will be his God and he shall be my son.
8 But as for the cowardly, the
faithless, the polluted, as for murderers, fornicators, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars, their lot shall be in the lake that burns with
fire and sulphur, which is the second death."
9 Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven
bowls full of the seven last plagues, and spoke to me, saying, "Come, I
will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb."
10 And in the Spirit he carried me away to a great,
high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of
heaven from God, 11 having
the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper,
clear as crystal. 12 It had a
great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and
on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were
inscribed; 13 on the east
three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on
the west three gates. 14 And
the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the twelve names
of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
