August 1831: William Miller (left) preaches his first sermon on the coming of Christ.

1844: Rachel Preston (right), a Seventh-day Baptist, introduces the Seventh-day Sabbath to Adventists in Washington, New Hampshire.

October 22, 1844: The Great Disappointment

December 1844: Ellen White (bottom right) receives her first vision.

April 20 & 21, 1848: The first general meeting of Sabbath keepers is held at Rocky Hill, Connecticut.

July 1849: The first issue of the The Present Truth (left),  now the Adventist Review, was launched in Paris, Maine by James and Ellen White.
