August 10, 1903: The Headquarters of the General Conference moves from Battle Creek, Michigan, to Washington, D.C.

1929: The name, "Pathfinder", is first used at a summer camp in Southeastern California.

1969: Maranatha Flights International began when John Freeman of Berrien Springs, Michigan, took 28 volunteers to Freeport, Grand Bahamas, to complete the Eight Mile Rock Church. Maranatha Volunteers International became the name in 1989 after a merger with Volunteers International.

October 1, 1971: Adventist World Radio airs its first broadcasts in 10 languages for 12 hours a week, after the Church purchased program time on Radio Trans-Europe in Sines, Portugal.

1989: The General Conference Headquarters moves to Silver Spring, Maryland.

November 2, 1999: John F. Street is elected Mayor of Philadelphia, the first Seventh-day Adventist to be elected mayor of a major city.

April 9, 2000: The Potomac Adventist Book and Health Food Store (right) opens its new facility, the World's Largest Christian Book Store.

July 7, 2003: Rear Admiral Barry C. Black begins serving as chaplain of the United States Senate. He becomes the first black and the first military chaplain to hold the position, along with being the first Seventh-day Adventist to serve as either House or Senate chaplain.
