Matthew 6 -
5
"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they
love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners,
that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have
received their reward. 6 But
when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your
Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will
reward you. 7 "And in praying
do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that
they will be heard for their many words. 8
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you
ask him. 9 Pray then like
this: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will
be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11
Give us this day our daily bread; 12
And forgive us our debts, As we also have forgiven our debtors;
13 And lead us not into
temptation, But deliver us from evil. 14
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also
will forgive you; 15 but if
you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father
forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 14 -
23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on
the mountain by himself to pray.
Matthew 21 -
12 And Jesus entered the temple of God and drove out
all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables
of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.
13 He said to them, "It is
written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer'; but you make
it a den of robbers."
Mark 1 -
30 Now Simon's mother-in-law lay sick with a fever, and
immediately they told him of her. 31
And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the
fever left her; and she served them. 32
That evening, at sundown, they brought to him all who were sick or
possessed with demons. 33 And
the whole city was gathered together about the door.
34 And he healed many who were
sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and he would
not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.
35 And in the morning, a great
while before day, he rose and went out to a lonely place, and there
he prayed.
Luke 2 -
36 And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of
Phan'u-el, of the tribe of Asher; she was of a great age, having
lived with her husband seven years from her virginity,
37 and as a widow till she was
eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with
fasting and prayer night and day. 38
And coming up at that very hour she gave thanks to God, and spoke of
him to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
Luke 5 -
12 While he was in one of the cities, there came a man
full of leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and
besought him, "Lord, if you will, you can make me clean."
13 And he stretched out his
hand, and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately
the leprosy left him. 14 And
he charged him to tell no one; but "go and show yourself to the
priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded,
for a proof to the people." 15
But so much the more the report went abroad concerning him; and
great multitudes gathered to hear and to be healed of their
infirmities. 16 But he
withdrew to the wilderness and prayed.
Luke 6 -
6
On another sabbath, when he entered the synagogue and taught, a man
was there whose right hand was withered. 7
And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he
would heal on the sabbath, so that they might find an accusation
against him. 8 But he knew
their thoughts, and he said to the man who had the withered hand,
"Come and stand here." And he rose and stood there.
9 And Jesus said to them, "I
ask you, is it lawful on the sabbath to do good or to do harm, to
save life or to destroy it?" 10
And he looked around on them all, and said to him, "Stretch out your
hand." And he did so, and his hand was restored.
11 But they were filled with fury and discussed
with one another what they might do to Jesus.
12 In these days he went out to the mountain to
pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God. |
